Have you thought about making a monthly contribution to the work of The Leprosy Mission? Sabita’s story explains why regular giving makes such a difference to our work.
Sabita developed leprosy when she was just 17. At the time, there was no cure for the disease. Her family completely rejected her and threw her out of the house. As the years passed, Sabita met a man also affected by leprosy. They married and had a son. But after her husband died, Sabita’s son grew increasingly fearful of his mother’s leprosy. Heartbreakingly, he too abandoned her, leaving Sabita completely alone and living on the streets.
Every week Sabita visits a Leprosy Mission mobile clinic where she receives the ongoing treatment and loving care that she needs. It’s here that she knows she is safe and that people care about her. This is why giving by Direct Debit makes such a difference in the lives of people affected by leprosy – it provides the ongoing support that so many people like Sabita desperately need. Philippa Hannah visited Sabita, and shares her story in the short film below.
By making a regular gift to help people affected by leprosy, we can reach even more people like Sabita.
£5 Could buy a pair of glasses to protect eyes from infection each month
£6 Could ensure that leprosy drugs reach someone who needs it every month
£10 Could buy a pair of protective sandals for someone each month
£20 Could provide someone with reconstructive surgery on their hands or feet each
£24 Cost of transporting medicines plus the necessary care provided at a clinic or
outpatients’ department each month
£50 Could buy school supplies and school uniform for one young person each month
Or give an amount of your choice to make a difference to the lives of people affected by leprosy.
Every month you can rest assured knowing that your gifts are bringing healing and hope to people who are suffering with the effects of leprosy. Your gifts will bring the cure from leprosy to those who need it, pay for mobile health clinics for those who can’t get to hospital, treat infected ulcers saving lives and limbs, give lifechanging surgery to enable people to walk again, provide prosthetic limbs, and much, much more.
The people you are helping may never know your name, but they will never forget your kindness.
You can manage your giving and are free to cancel your support at any time. You are in control. The wonderful thing about giving regularly is that it enables The Leprosy Mission to plan ahead, so the people you are helping can feel secure, knowing your support will be there for them in the future.
Thank you for your care and kindness.
